I know it has been quite a while since I posted on life here in Cameroon.  I owe you all much more than this post, but this post is dedicated to Megzy and the awesome calendar she gave to me before I left America.  This calendar is great because each month has a new picture of the two of us!  Since we’ve been friends since we were like 12 and lived together for two years, you can imagine that there are many photos of the two of us to be found.

Anyway, the calendar is a great conversation starter as it is in my living room hanging right in the middle of my wall.  People often comment on how cute the picture is, what a great going away present it was, etc., but by far the best reaction was the one from Amadou.  If you recall, Amadou has been helping me out with stuff around my house over the past few months.  One day, Amadou was installing my new screen door and he commented on my calendar.  He thought it was great and took the time to admire all of the photos in the calendar.  After looking at all of the pictures, he started asking some questions. Was this my only calendar? Did I have more copies? then the kicker…was I selling the calendar and if so, could he have one? 

I couldn’t help but laugh.  I mean come on…do I have copies to sell? People, I came to Cameroon to volunteer and became a celebrity.  People want to buy my calendar, kids take candid pictures of me with their cell phones, and boutique owners ask me to pose for pictures with their sons/daughters.  I mean, you might as well ask me for my autograph!  I’m going to be so upset when I go back to NYC and don’t have children running after me and yelling to get my attention.
